Yesterday, Register Ashe held his semiannual Release and Forecast. During this press conference, the Register released the amount of revenue collected by our office, the breakdown of documents recorded with the Hampden County Registry of Deeds, as well as his predictions for fiscal year 2017.

On Friday, June 9, the Register Donald Ashe and Assistant Registers Donna and Caitlin visited the "Thrive After 55" Wellness Fair, presented by Senator Eric Lesser.

The wellness fair was very well-attended, and Register Ashe and Assistant Register Donna were able to provide information to hundreds of guests.

Registry Account Gayle Celebrates Retirement After 20 Years

After 20 years of working at the Registry, our accountant Gayle is retiring. On Thursday, May 4, the Registry staff gathered at Pic's Pub in Holyoke to celebrate her twenty years of service in our office. Gayle has been a pleasure to work with throughout the years, and she will be missed.

Hampden County Registry of Deeds first registry in Massachusetts to electronically record land registration document

Today, the Hampden County Registry of Deeds was the first registry in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts to electronically record a document held in the land registration department. 

For those of you that may not know, real property in Massachusetts is either held in the recorded land or the registered land departments.  Prior to today, registries across the state were required to retain all original documents of those properties held in the registered land department, making electronic recording these documents impossible.  With the passage of House Bill 3862, however, this requirement was overturned, allowing our office to finally e-record registered land documents.   

Our office has been electronically recording 35% - 40% of its recorded land documents since May of 2004 and is excited to see this convenient and efficient method extend to all departments.   

Register Ashe is joined by MIS Director Gregory Rogers, Assistant Technical Consultant Bridget O'Connor, and First Assistant Register Kelly Cavanaugh-Kelly, as they hold the first document electronically recorded in the registered land department.  

Hampden County Registry at the Westfield Senior Fair

On Thursday, April 20, Assistant Register Donna represented the Registry at the 2017 Annual Westfield Senior Fair.

Assistant Register Donna helped guests at the Westfield Senior Fair learn about the Registry's services and the Homestead Act.

Guests tour the various tables set up at the Westfield Senior Fair.

At the Registry table, guests could find Hampden County Officer information, information on the Homestead Act, and applications for the Declaration of Homestead.
