Register Ashe Serves as Master of Ceremonies for St. Patrick's Day Luncheon

On St. Patrick's Day, Register Ashe was honored to return to the Hungry Hill Senior Center as master of ceremonies for the annual St. Patrick's Day Luncheon. Register Ashe would like to thank Linda Henley and Janet Rodriguez Denney for including him in this event. The Register had a great time catching up with members of the Center and enjoying some traditional Irish music performed by The Nuts and Bolts and he is looking forward to attending next year!

Land Court Presentation @ Red Rose

Donald E. Ashe is happy to announce that the Hampden County Bar Association Real Estate Attorneys division invited the Registry to their monthly meeting to discuss current Land Court and Registry procedures along with future changes that may be occurring.  The meeting was held February 16, 2016 at the Red Rose Restaurant.  President Thomas Wilson introduced Kelly Cavanaugh-Kelly, Assistant Register of Deeds, and Bridget O’Connor, Land Court Technical Consultant.  Bridget explained Land Court documents and procedures and answered various questions.  Kelly explained future changes that may be occurring which included electronically recording Land Court documents and the possibility of a standard statewide computer system.

Polish American Citizen of the Year - 1-30-16

Hampden County Register of Deeds, Donald E. Ashe, presented a proclamation to the winner of the Polish American Citizen of the Year for 2016, Thaddeus "Ted" Nowak, at the ceremony held at the Polish American Citizens Club in Ludlow on January 30, 2016.

February 4, 2016 - Register Donald E. Ashe presented his annual donation of hats and mittens to the students of the Homer Street School in Springfield.  Register Ashe is pictured with Principal Kathleen Sullivan, her assistant and two of his employees from the Hampden County Registry of Deeds.

The total amount of money spent on real estate in Hampden County during calendar year 2015 was $1,339,360,000.00 ~ an increase of 14% over the prior year.  77,269 documents were recorded during this period ~ up 11% over the prior year.  The amount of revenue collected for 2015 was $13,297,129.10 ~ 13% over calendar year 2014.

                                                                                                                                   

Finding Miracles

Brian was an employee at the Hampden County Registry of Deeds from 1998-2010 and was recently part of a film project that we'd like to share with you.  He worked in the photo department assisting in making copies and managing the inventory of books maintained in our office.  He was a dedicated employee and was always willing to lend a helping hand.  During our Christmas parties, he would even treat the staff by playing Christmas music on his piano.

Registry of Deeds Attends Agawam Senior Fair

Yesterday, Register Ashe and his representatives attended the Agawam Senior Fair held at the Agawam Senior Center.  The event was a great success and we were able to meet with many area residents.  We found that several people were interested in the Homestead Act, as well as conveying property ownership in order to best protect their financial interests.  Though the Registry of Deeds does not dispense legal advice, we were happy to direct residents to various legal and governmental resources that may be able to provide answers these questions.  We thoroughly enjoyed our time in Agawam and look forward to attending next year!
