The Registry of Deeds Updates its Image Viewer

In order to make your online document research as simple and straight forward as possible, the Hampden County  Registry of Deeds is continually striving to provide the public with the best technology.  Over a year ago, we implemented a new document viewer that streamlines the image viewing process.  The need to download a plug-in to view documents was eliminated.  The Hampden County Registry of Deeds is happy to announce that it has updated the document viewer, which allows for a few new features that will make your experience even better.  The behind the scenes update will allow the documents to appear faster on your computer, as well as allow the different document formats to be displayed, such as PDFs.  The most noticeable change, however, is the ability to scroll through document pages without the need to click on the different thumbnails.  This should provide a fluid transition between the pages. 

We hope this update provides the public with an even better viewing experience.

Register Ashe Attends Westfield's Annual Senior Fair

On April 21st, Register Ashe and staff attended Westfield's annual Senior Options Fair.  Each year, our office sets up a booth and has staff on hand to answer any questions that the public may have relative to real property in Hampden County.  This year was even more special, as it was the first time it was held in Westfield's new senior center.  The facility is beautiful and it has come to fruition largely by the efforts of it's outstanding director, Tina Gorman.  To commemorate this hugely successful undertaking, Register Ashe presented Ms. Gorman with a proclamation to thank her for her tireless efforts on behalf of area seniors.  We would like to thank Ms. Gorman and the staff of the Westfield Senior Center for welcoming us back to an event that we look forward to each year.  Congratulations on your new facility!

Register Ashe had the pleasure of running into one of the Registry's former employees!

Of the many questions fielded by the Register, most were those related to the Homestead Act, reserving a life estate and properties held in a trust.  While our office makes it a practice not to answer legal questions, we always attempt to direct our customers to the proper entities.

Register Ashe Serves as Master of Ceremonies for St. Patrick's Day Luncheon

On St. Patrick's Day, Register Ashe was honored to return to the Hungry Hill Senior Center as master of ceremonies for the annual St. Patrick's Day Luncheon. Register Ashe would like to thank Linda Henley and Janet Rodriguez Denney for including him in this event. The Register had a great time catching up with members of the Center and enjoying some traditional Irish music performed by The Nuts and Bolts and he is looking forward to attending next year!

Land Court Presentation @ Red Rose

Donald E. Ashe is happy to announce that the Hampden County Bar Association Real Estate Attorneys division invited the Registry to their monthly meeting to discuss current Land Court and Registry procedures along with future changes that may be occurring.  The meeting was held February 16, 2016 at the Red Rose Restaurant.  President Thomas Wilson introduced Kelly Cavanaugh-Kelly, Assistant Register of Deeds, and Bridget O’Connor, Land Court Technical Consultant.  Bridget explained Land Court documents and procedures and answered various questions.  Kelly explained future changes that may be occurring which included electronically recording Land Court documents and the possibility of a standard statewide computer system.
